OUR APPROACH

We understand that children have different needs and emotions, especially in new environments. Our Dragonfly Guides will always approach situations with patience, kindness, and understanding.

Our goal is to support children while also maintaining a safe and calm space for everyone.

Child Drop-Off Guidelines To ensure a smooth experience:

  • Childcare is available for children 6 months and older.

  • Children must be pre-registered for childcare. Childcare cannot be provided for children who are not pre-registered unless approved by the manager and within ratio limits.

  • Parents must change diapers or assist with bathroom use before drop-off. Dragonfly Guides do not change diapers. Parents will be notified if a diaper change is needed.

  • No food or drinks are permitted in the childcare room.

  • Parents must remain on Hope Yoga premises while their child is in childcare.

  • Participation Readiness: Childcare is designed for children who are able to participate in a group environment with the support of our Dragonfly Guides. If a child is not yet comfortable separating or participating safely, we may recommend trying again at a later time.

  • Please arrive 5–15 minutes before class to allow time for drop-off and transition.

PARENT NOTIFICATION POLICIES

  • If your child needs assistance or needs to be picked up during class, a member of our teaching team will quietly tap you on the shoulder to let you know. They will guide you to step out of Jimmy’s studio and into Helen’s studio. When this happens, we kindly ask that you slip out of the room as quietly as possible to help maintain a calm and uninterrupted environment for the rest of the class.

  • If a parent cannot be located or does not respond to notification, childcare staff may enter the studio to request immediate assistance.

  • If a child requires early pick-up due to behavior or illness, childcare fees or credits are not refunded.

THREE STRIKE GUIDELINE

These guidelines help us support children compassionately while also protecting the experience of all families using childcare.

Strike 1: Gentle Redirection

If a child displays disruptive or unsafe behavior (hitting, biting, throwing toys, refusing to follow safety instructions):

  • The Dragonfly Guide will calmly redirect the child to another activity.

  • The behavior will be addressed in a supportive and age-appropriate way.

  • No parent involvement is needed at this stage with the exception of biting or hitting as these behaviors immediately go to Strike 2.

Goal: Help the child reset and re-engage with the group.

Strike 2: Parent Notification

If the behavior continues:

  • The Dragonfly Guide will notify the teacher by sliding the name of the parent underneath Jimmy’s studio door.

  • The parent may be briefly brought out of class to assist or check in with their child.

  • The child may return to childcare once they are calm and ready to participate.

Goal: Support the child while maintaining a peaceful environment for the group.

Strike 3: Early Pick-Up

If the behavior persists or continues to disrupt the group:

  • The parent will be asked to remain with the child or pick them up early for that visit.

  • If a child requires early pick-up due to behavior or illness, childcare fees or credits are not refunded.

Our priority is ensuring that all children and families have a positive and safe experience.

Ongoing Concerns

If repeated incidents occur across multiple visits, Hope Yoga may ask families to:

  • Take a temporary break from childcare, or

  • Return once the child is better able to participate comfortably.

Illness

For the safety of all children and staff, please do not bring your child to childcare if they have:

  • Fever within the past 24 hours

  • Vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours

  • Contagious illness or unexplained rash

If a child becomes visibly unwell during childcare, a parent will be asked to pick them up.

LATE CANCELLATIONS & NO SHOWS

To help us provide safe, high-quality childcare with limited capacity, we kindly ask that you update your reservation if your plans change.

  • No-Show Policy: If you do not arrive for your reserved childcare spot and have not cancelled in advance, the $10 drop-in fee or childcare package credit will be forfeited.

  • Late Cancel Policy: If you cancel your childcare reservation less than 3 hours before the start of class, a $5 late cancel fee will be charged. Your childcare credit will remain in your account for future use.

We appreciate your understanding and support in helping us offer childcare to as many families as possible.
